Department Estates

Band 3 £24,937 - £26,598 Per annum pro rata, plus a 30% additional salary payment (R&R)

Hours: 37.5 per week, flexible working will be considered.

Are you wanting experience within healthcare? Are you a passionate gardener with love for the environment?

A grounds and gardens operative are required to join Team in maintaining the hospital site at TeamMKUH. From planting and pruning to mowing and seasonal displays, your work will contribute to the overall appearance and functionality of our estate.

To be successful in this post, you will need to hold a full Driving License, and it is desirable to have experience of operating grounds maintenance machinery. Experience of working on large site would be an advantage.

You must be a good communicator, able to multi-task accurately under pressure, with the ability to work with little direct supervision, along with a flexible attitude to an ever-changing work environment.

Furthermore, you will be required to undertake manual work in all weather conditions and all physical tasks described in the Job Description, if you can meet this challenge, you could be the person we are looking for.

To maintain all grounds and gardens in a neat and tidy state, making best use of resources available.

To ensure all grounds equipment is maintained to acceptable levels and is fit for use.

To ensure all Health & Safety procedures and practices are maintained in relation to service activity.

To ensure all chemical spraying and associated activities are carried out in a safe and appropriate manner.

To ensure all litter is regularly picked, collected and disposed of from all external waste bins, and public areas

To ensure the site is free from accumulated litter and support the Trusts No Visible Waste Policy.

To clear snow/ice as and when required Gritting is required prior to potential risk.

To carry out other tasks associated to this service as directed.

To use mechanical and hand operated horticultural machinery in a safe manner.

To carry out pruning and trimming of shrubs throughout site.
