Staff Nurse
Department Urology Investigation Unit
Band 5 £31,049 - £37,796 Per annum, pro rata if part-time
Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
Are you a compassionate and motivated nurse looking to specialise in a dynamic and supportive environment? We are seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Urology Investigation Unit, where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic and minor interventional procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced unit that supports outpatient investigations such as flexible cystoscopy, urodynamics and catheter management. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in patient care and service innovation.

Main duties of the job
The aim of this role is to provide specialist nursing care in the Urology Investigation Unit. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking and recording comprehensive nursing care including assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.
The post holder will use specialist nursing skills to contribute to the management of a cohort of patients referred for specialist intervention, care, and support. The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and work collaboratively with the team leader to contribute to a learning environment that promotes excellence in the urology investigation unit at MKUH.

Main duties and responsibilities
Clinical
Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care within an outpatient setting and when receiving patients for invasive procedures.
Prepare, assemble, and check procedure room equipment to ensure safe planning of stock as necessary.
Communication
Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of holistic care and provide clinical leadership across the Trust for this specialist area.
Contribute to the patient care pathway, ensuring timely referrals are made to members of the multidisciplinary and treatment teams. This will include receiving direct referrals to the specialist nursing service from medical and nursing staff within the Trust.
Education
Take responsibility for own learning and development and contribute to Trust wide education and training.
Assist in the delivery of formal and informal teaching initiatives as part of the Trusts education strategy as agreed with the appropriate senior nurse to ensure practice development and improved care for patients.
Quality
Manage and co-ordinate own workload and work within the limitations of own role escalating to more senior staff to maintain safe, quality care.
Adhere to the policies and protocols that support the specialist service as required.
