Domestic Assistant - Staff Accommodation

Department: Hotel Services / Staff Accommodation

Band 2 - pro rata

Hours: 25 per week (Monday to Friday 9am-2pm, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Domestic Assistant to join our Accommodation Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital. This part-time role is Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 2:00pm--no evenings, weekends, or bank holidays--supporting the cleaning and upkeep of on-site and off-site staff accommodation (not patient areas), in domestic house and flat type environments.

You'll be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in communal bathrooms, kitchens, stairs, halls, and landings--many properties have up to three storeys, so the role involves frequent stair climbing. Duties include daily cleaning of cookers and communal areas, exit cleans when tenants vacate rooms, and emptying bins, which can sometimes involve dealing with unpleasant waste such as food remnants and maggots. You will also enter individual bedrooms, so discretion, professionalism, and respect for residents' personal space and belongings are essential.

This is a customer facing environment, where tenants may be in the properties when cleaning is being carried out. You will be fully trained and then could be working as part of the team or lone working, depending on work schedule each day.
