Job summary
Working collaboratively with other Respiratory Consultants/Doctors and internal nursing colleagues, the post holder will contribute to all aspects of the Respiratory Medicine and General (Internal) Medicine services at MKUH and facilitate the urgent transfer of patients in need of super-speciality treatment to other hospitals.
We keep patients informed, involved and engaged in their treatment.
As a Respiratory Consultant, providing a 7-day service, you will
Provide expert clinical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings

Lead and develop specialist respiratory services
Collaborate with a team of consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, and allied health profession
Contribute to teaching, training, and research initiatives within the department.
The responsibilities of this post include diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of Respiratory patients presenting either as emergencies or referred on an elective basis. Working with the existing Respiratory Consultant team, the post holder will be responsible for providing both inpatient (including in-reach) and outpatient services for MKUH, for which the Trusts will provide the necessary support.
Main duties of the job
Provide acute and elective care for Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine patients, including the provision of a Respiratory in-reach service, triage of referrals from Primary Care and response to Advice & Guidance requests from GPs
Participate in Ward/Board Rounds daily
Take responsibility for management of adult Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine patients in conjunction with community services and the regional centres.
Improve the flow of patients at MKUH by regular liaison with the physicians, facilitating investigations including imaging, Physiology, and the appropriate management of Respiratory referrals.
Support with service developments and improvements to allow the service to continue to grow and meet the needs of the growing local population.
Support and ensure Governance within the service to ensure patient safety is maintained and incidents are raised early and investigated properly.
Build strong working relationships with fellow colleagues, operations managers, patient pathway coordinators and other teams across the Trust.

Maintain a high standard of work and look to continuously improve their practice to ensure patient safety and experience.
Support the training, professional supervision and management of trainee medical staff/students
