Assistant Financial Accountant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in capital and charity accounting within the NHS, who is looking to develop their skills in a supportive environment.
You'll be part of a friendly and experienced team, with opportunities for development and progression. This role offers a valuable insight into capital and charity accounting within the NHS and the chance to contribute to meaningful financial stewardship that supports patient care.

To assist the Capital analyst in providing the capital accounting required to ensure that the trust accurately records its capital assets and adheres to capital accounting policies outlined under IFRS and by Monitor and the Department of Health.
To provide capital accounting to support the Senior Capital Accountant in meeting, NHSE and DHSC requests for interim and year end accounts submissions.
Provide support in charity accounting requirements to ensure compliance with relevant NHS and regulatory guidelines.

Capital
Assist in the timely and accurate production of monthly and annual capital accounts to include: The capitalisation of assets onto the fixed asset registers, in accordance with Trust policy.
Charity
Review and approve charitable fund spend requests in line with policy and fund restrictions. Complete charitable funds recharges and support the month-end close-down process.
Communication and working relationship Skills
Requires highly effective communication skills, both oral and written, coupled with the ability to actively listen and engage. Summarise data into meaningful information to present this to a range of stakeholders, including non-financial managers and colleagues, both internally and externally.

- Experience of working within a finance role in a large organisation.
- AAT technician level or equivalent qualification or experience.
