Specialist Rotational Pharmacist

Band 7 £46,148 - £52,809 per annum, pro rata if part-time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

It is an exciting time to be joining Milton Keynes Hospital Pharmacy. We have had significant investment over the last few years in a fully refurbished Pharmacy department plus a state-of-the-art Aseptic Unit based within our new Cancer Centre. Research & Development is a key priority for the organisation and the Pharmacy Department. We also have a New Outpatient Pharmacy.

As a result of significant investment into our pharmacy team, we are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist pharmacists to join our team and contribute to developing and delivering our services.

You will work closely with pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare staff to:

  • provide clinical pharmacy services across a variety of specialities.
  • support safe prescribing and medicines optimisation.
  • support medicines safety and quality improvement
  • provide medicines related advice to colleagues and patients.
  • support the safe and timely discharge of patients.
  • support clinical screening and accuracy checking within the dispensary.
  • Undertake audit, research and development of more junior team members

Your role would be to support the Divisional teams and Clinical Service Units in delivering a consistently high-quality patient care and pharmacy service across a variety of different specialties, on a rotational basis (normally 12 months).

  • To undertake projects that will improve the safety and clinical effectiveness of patient care and the patient experience and contribute to effective and appropriate drugs budget management within a range of clinical specialities.
