Clinical Skills & Simulation Apprentice Technician

Hours: 37.5 hours per weekThe clinical skills and simulation department is a joint venture between the University of Buckingham medical school (UBMS) and MKUH. We are responsible for providing clinical skills to undergraduate medical students and post graduate doctors in training. We are also responsible for the delivery of hi-fidelity simulation-based education for UBMS and staff in the trust.
The clinical skills and simulation apprenticeship is a joint venture with Hampshire NHS trust, as they facilitate the 2-year apprentice technician course, which you will be expected to attend 1 day per week, with 4 working days per week working with the team.
This apprenticeship is ideal if you are seeking a rewarding career in a technical based role, but still contributing to patient care and safety though the provision of our educational services.
This is a fixed term contract of 28 months; 24 months on the apprentice technician course ( I day per week) with application to practice with our department 4 days per week. This fixed term includes an orientation period of 2 months prior to the course commencing, with a 2-month consolidation period after the course completes.

Main duties of the job
The apprentice has key learning objectives to be achieved and will be provided with 2 mentors for the duration of the course, one academic and one technical mentor. At the end of the apprenticeship programme, if no post is available at MKUH, you will be qualified and accredited by the Science council and can apply at any NHS trust for a permanent role in this field.

You must be 16 years old or over.
You have resided in the UK or EEA for at least the past 3 years.
You can produce evidence of your Maths & English GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications.
You will not be in full time education at the point of starting this role.
You have not previously undertaken a similar or higher qualification to the Apprenticeship Advertised.
