Pharmacy Technician MMT - Cancer and Aseptics
Band 5 £28,407 - £34,581 per annum pro rota
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 WTE). All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
Due to exciting changes and significant expansion to the trust cancer services provision we are pleased to be able to offer a number of specialist posts within our pharmacy cancer services team. A new purpose built Aseptic unit opened in March 2020, this is co-located within the Cancer Centre building. A new radiotherapy centre is also being constructed with an anticipated opening date in summer 2024. The main pharmacy department has also undergone a major refurbishment project and installed a new dispensing robot.
We are a department of over 100 staff providing pharmacy services through team-working and prioritising the needs of those we serve. You should be a registered pharmacy technician who is looking to develop their skills further within the pharmacy team; based in the Aseptic Unit you will provide an excellent service to the trust ensuring prompt and efficient production and supply of medicines.

Main duties of the job
- To take an active role in the delivery and provision of the medicines optimisation service to clinical areas and to provide support to ward Pharmacists.
- To co-operate with staff in other disciplines to help ensure safe, effective and economic use of drugs
- Dispensing for Inpatients, Outpatients and Discharge.
- Final accuracy checking of dispensed items
- Participating in the pharmacy weekend and bank holiday rotas.

- To liaise on pharmaceutical aspects of oncology clinical trials with the lead pharmacist for clinical trials and to ensure the safe and appropriate storage and dispensing of clinical trial drugs.

- BTEC + NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Accredited Checking Technician, or willing to work towards accredited checking technician status (successful candidate must achieve this accreditation within 12 months of start date)
- Knowledge of medicines management, including relevant legislation and policies, acquired through basic qualification plus specialist training or experience as a medicine management technician
