Capital Projects Manager

Band 7 - £43,742 - £50,056 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week,all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
The Estates Department has a vacancy for a Project Manager to enable the Capital Projects team to successfully deliver a programme of improvements on the Milton Keynes University Hospital site. The Department serves a growing Acute Foundation Trust Hospital of around 450 beds and is committed to providing a quality service.
This is an opportunity for a suitably qualified, motivated individual to join our team. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and ability to use your initiative. You should have healthcare planning experience and be able to lead clinical colleagues through the project process. Contact prior to application is welcomed, please see details below.
The Capital Projects Team undertake projects which refurbish and upgrade the environment, repurpose spaces for different clinical uses and undertake works to address backlog maintenance.
You will need significant appropriate experience and hold a relevant qualification in the Built Environment. Experience and competency in using CAD supported by relevant qualifications is considered desirable for this post. The team currently uses BricsCAD v17.

Main duties of the job
- Assist in the development of the Trust's Capital Programme and manage a number of specific projects in order to implement the programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.
- Commission and manage delegated Capital projects including work on business case development.
- Lead a number of project meetings (Steering Groups & Specialist Design Groups) linked to schemes within the programme. Provide the technical input into those Project Group meetings.
- Provide expert specialist and professional construction, programme and cost advice to in relation to the projects undertaken and more generally throughout the Trust on behalf of the Head of Projects (Capital).
- Engage in formal proactive knowledge management processes to take successful practices from NHS and non-NHS agencies and utilise them in the development and implementation of the Capital programme.
- Work with Head of Projects (Capital) to develop and implement capital management policies and procedures for the department. Provide specialist advice on sustainable design issues to healthcare designers and planners. Undertake audits on proposed designs, to ensure they meet the requirements of the organisation.
- Maintain an in-depth and up to date knowledge of sustainable and health-care related design issues in construction.
