You will work as part of the friendly team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service delivering excellent patient care in line with the Trust core values. You will be expected to maintain high clinical standards and share this practice with colleagues and students.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to CPD and a practical knowledge of radiation protection, legislation and health and safety requirements. A flexible approach to working will be required. Above all, patients must be at the forefront of your practice.

Rotation through CT, Interventional,Cardiologyand MRIcan be offered. The department supports role extension and has practicing radiographers reporting on axial and appendicular skeleton as well as Chest Reporting.

Main duties of the job

We support Accelerated Progression from Band 5 to Band 6 using Annex T AFC, which is achieved by producing acompetence-basedportfolio of evidenced practice for assessment.

Student Radiographers rotate through the department from the University of Hertfordshire and there are also Radiography Apprentices studying at the University of Exeter.

Student Radiographersare invited to apply, we offer direct recruitment to Band 4 pending registration.

It is an exciting time to join Milton Keynes with plans underway to build a dedicated Imaging Scanner Centre for CT, MRI and Ultrasound.

Main duties :

  • To help organise and participate in the day to day running of the assigned area of radiographic work
  • To appear on duty promptly, following trust uniform policy and while at work behaving in a professional and courteous manner
  • To undertake a wide range of radiographic examinations in the best interests of the patient whilst minimising radiation dose and using resources optimally
  • To ensure a high-quality, safe, and responsive diagnostic imaging service is maintained with patient waiting times kept to a minimum
  • To acquire knowledge of developments in imaging techniques and to improve and maintain professional expertise via continuous professional development.

Communication:

  • Communicates effectively, empathically, and persuasively with patients to facilitate accurate positioning of patients and obtain diagnostic images. This will include dealing with patients (and their relatives or carers) who may have communication difficulties e.g., deafness or who speak a foreign language.

Teaching, Training and Research:

  • Plans and undertakes continued studies, both in the workplace and in own personal time to fulfil the annual CPD requirements to maintain HCPC state registration.
  • Completes the training necessary to provide high quality diagnostic images within the defined scope of practice.

Professional role responsibilities:

  • Practices in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Society of Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines.
