An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we are seeking highly motivated radiographers eager to advance their careers in CT/MRI at Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust.
Join us as a Radiographer and be a part of the vibrant, friendly, and inclusive Radiology department. Our welcoming and adaptable Imaging Department is equipped with three Canon CT systems and two Siemens MRI systems. We are a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff who provide high quality, user-friendly diagnostic radiology service.

Main duties of the job
- To work a rotation through the MRI and CT departments conducting cross- sectional examinations using a range of MRI and CT equipment upon various patient types; both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-professional team, in a manner that meets profession, departmental and legal standards and requirements.
- To proactively assist in the management of the MRI and CT scanning departments on a daily basis whilst fostering a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- To actively supervise and teach radiographers new to MRI and/or CT, student radiographers and imaging assistants and to actively help, teach and support training Specialty doctors in radiology
- Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with Trust values.

- Work unsupervised, performing all CT, MR scans following imaging parameters set down in scanning protocols.
- Liaise with referral source where clarification is required regarding the selection of the most clinically appropriate imaging examination and prioritise cases by urgent clinical need.
- Act as a professional resource regarding CT, MR procedures for other directorate staff and clinical colleagues.
- Act as a point of advice for patient enquiries regarding their referral.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Liaise with other departments / wards within the hospital and various external sources to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians. Keeping them informed of any delays to patient throughput, which might result because of, for example excessive workload.
- Create, maintain, and enhance working relationships with wards, clinicians, and staff.
- Act as a point of advice for patient enquiries regarding their referral.
- To work closely with specialist groups e.g., anaesthetics and intensive care to ensure that they operate in a safe manner in the CT/MRI controlled area.
Managerial responsibilities:
- Deputise in the absence of senior staff such as section heads for CT & MR or band 7 radiographers and be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the CT & MRI department.
- Be familiar with the range of technical applications available on imaging equipment.
- Monitor and report equipment faults and to determine the severity of the problem and its probable impact on the workload. To make a balanced judgement on when to call in a service engineer, considering the effect on the normal running of the CT/ MR Service.
- To liaise with equipment suppliers regarding the attendance of an engineer at a suitable time in the event of minor faults or immediately in the event of total equipment failure.
Analytical and Judgmental Skills:
- Use analytical and judgement skills with regard to the interpretation of clinical information. Advise radiologists of the technical capabilities of the CT and MRI scanners and suggest appropriate sequences to better demonstrate a variety of common pathologies.
Responsibilities for Human Resources:
- To assist in the supervision and clinical instruction of undergraduate radiographic staf
- To undertake formalised assessments of undergraduate students and document findings in accordance with each academic institutions requirements

- BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
- Health and Care Professions Council Registration
- Evidence of a sound level of computer literacy (MS Teams, word, outlook, power point and excel)
- Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS), radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving communications systems (PACS)
- Knowledge of a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures
