Rotational Physiotherapist

Band 5, pro rata if part-time
Hours: 37.5 per week as part of 7 day working pattern, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
The Therapy team at MKUH are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 Physiotherapists to join our cohort of rotational Band 5 Physiotherapists. We have both permanent and fixed term contracts available. We offer several development opportunities for staff to progress their development and careers.
The rotations are 4 months in duration and include the following clinical areas:
- Acute Stroke Unit
- MSK Outpatients including hydrotherapy - assessing and treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal patients' post-injury, post-surgical and long-term condition / pain management, referred from orthopaedics, rheumatology and pain clinic.
- Inpatient Orthopaedics - Trauma and Elective, including multi trauma and spinal injury patients
- Inpatient Medical- including gasto, complex medical wards, palliative care, discharge planning
- Acute Respiratory including NIV, General surgery including ERP programme and ICU (including referring on for post-ICU outpatient recovery)
- Paediatrics - inpatient and outpatient areas
- Acute Assessment and Frailty Team
- Outpatient Respiratory - including pulmonary rehabilitation and post ICU follow up clinic
- Pelvic Health

Main duties of the job
You will have the opportunity to support student education and attend practice education training at our partner universities to prepare you for being a student educator after your first 12 months.

- To perform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

- To undertake assessment of patients using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide a diagnosis of their condition.
- To formulate, deliver and evaluate individual physiotherapy treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills.
- To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD activities and to maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development.
- To participate in the staff appraisal scheme as an appraisee and be responsible for complying with your agreed personal development programmes to meet set knowledge and competencies.
- To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of evidence based practice projects, audit and outcome measures in conjunction with a Senior Physiotherapist.
- To ensure compliance with organisational and departmental policies and procedures and to follow the general professional guidelines and standards from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Health Professions Council.
- To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements, and to communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and letters.
- To undertake any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the Therapy Services Manager.
