Senior Research Nurse/Practitioner

We are looking for a highly motivated, engaged professional to join our expanding team. The Research & Development team consists of a mixture of both clinical and administrative staff who collectively are tasked with the delivery of research across the Organisation.
The successful candidate will provide management for allocated clinical team colleagues and manage all aspects of their HR and professional development needs. In addition, the successful candidate will lead a portfolio of studies and raise the profile of Research through the sharing of clinical knowledge and knowledge relating to research, research methods and methodology. They will contribute to teaching, training, and local and national research events as required.
With a strong clinical background, leadership and IT knowledge, the post holder will be a role model and guide for the research team. Engaging with the multidisciplinary teams across the Trust to promote and facilitate the delivery of research across all departments.We advocate collaborative, transparent working practises with strong teamwork.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Research Team at Milton Keynes NHS Foundation Trust, with a primary aim of promoting the entry of patients into trials. The purpose of the job is to lead within the R&D team promoting inclusivity, development and engagement whilst raising awareness of and developing collaborative networks to promote clinical research. Central to this role is increasing the number of patients recruited into trials in line with the National Institute for Health Research high level objectives.
Ensuring high standards of recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering clinical trials and the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records is an essential aspect of this post. Along with delivery of the service level agreement with the Thames Valley & South Midlands Clinical Research Network (TVSMCRN).
Managing members of the research team, the post holder will ensure all Human Resource requirements are completed in a timely manner and the Healthroster accurately maintained.
The appointed Band 7 will support and maintain open communication with the Deputy Head of Research and Development and the Head of Research and Development.

- Strictly work within the NMC Code of Conduct and maintain clinical practice for revalidation.
- Self-manage all work areas and workload, seeking managerial support as required. Maintain own time schedule and ensure that all timelines are adhered to. Identify personal training requirements and initiate appropriate training.
- In collaboration with the Research Team, ensure the safe administration of treatments given within the context of a clinical trial.
- Use the NIHR CRN and NHS Trust computer systems/network and the internet.
- Ensure that all data is handled according to the Data Protection Act and in a confidential, and where necessary anonymised, fashion.
- Provide and receive complex information, analysing facts and interpretation outcomes. Cascading information to colleagues, patients and public in an appropriate manner.
- Represent the Trust and the Research Department in meetings, conferences, symposia, and social media events as required.
- Provide leadership and management for research nurses, midwives and associated staff.
- Have a specialist knowledge across a range of subjects, ideally research being one of the areas.
- Review and implement policies; propose and implement changes to practise (with managerial support) when required to improve the service.
- Ensure currency of own professional knowledge through specialist training, experience and short course.
