Hours: 26.25 per week (0.7 WTE) all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

Our Therapy Department is currently looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to become part of our therapy team being established for our new Cancer Centre.

Working as part of a dedicated and skilled Cancer Services team you will be providing a holistic therapy approach to cancer patients in an mainly inpatient setting and supporting the Wellbeing centre and outpatient clinics as required. There is a strong expectation to collaborate with all members of the MDT to ensure the complex needs of patients are always at the centre of your care.Previous experience of working within an inpatient and cancer setting are essential. An ability to demonstrate a proactive flexible approach and to be able to work well on own initiative is essential.Demonstrable skills in service development are desirable, along with a keen interest in educating fellow healthcare colleagues.This rapidly expanding modern and busy unit offers many training opportunities for their staff, recent developments have led to opening of a new Cancer Centre which opened early 2020 .This developing service is supported by a forward thinking & supportive Management Team, NursePractitioners, Palliative Care Team & Macmillan Information and Support Centre.

Main duties of the job

This post is available as a Band 5 - 6 development role for experienced band 5 therapists looking to further their career. Specific training and competencies will be provided to support the transition between grades.

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with UK Health and Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of CPD including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical/Cancer Services

  • NHS experience
  • Minimum of 6 months experience of working in an Acute Physical Occupational Therapy Department
