Job summary

Senior Medical Secretary - Orthopaedics

We're looking for an organised, proactive and supportive Senior Medical Secretary to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team. In this key role, you'll provide high-quality secretarial support to named consultants while leading and coordinating a team of administrative staff to ensure a smooth, efficient and patient-focused service.

About the Role

Provide a full medical secretarial service, including audio/copy typing, letter production, diary management and handling calls and enquiriesSupport consultants with meeting preparation, correspondence, patient appointments and clinic organisationAct as a central link between the multidisciplinary team, helping maintain excellent patient pathwaysUse and develop departmental IT systems and ensure accurate records and processes

Main duties of the job

Leadership Responsibilities

Supervise secretarial staff, coordinate workloads and ensure consistent service coverAssist with recruitment, induction, appraisals and identifying training needsSupport performance management and maintain a positive, professional team environmentManage office resources, equipment and stationery

RTT & Administrative Expertise

Act as the administrative lead for RTT, tracking potential breaches and supporting accurate clock-start/stop processesProvide training and troubleshooting support to admin staffHelp drive improvements in office systems and service efficiency
