We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Ward Clerk to join our Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) -- a 31-bedded ward with a 4-bedded hyperacute bay that receives patients from the Emergency Department and neighbouring hospitals.

As a Ward Clerk, you will play a key part in keeping the ward running smoothly. You'll help maintain accurate patient records, support the flow of information, and be a vital point of contact for patients, relatives, and colleagues. You'll work closely with a wide multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and fellow administrative staff, so excellent communication and customer-service skills are essential.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring a warm, professional manner, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. In return, we offer a comprehensive training programme and clear opportunities for development.

Main duties of the job

To provide efficient and professional administrative and clerical support to ASU. This will include:o Welcome patients and relatives warmly, provide clear information, and guide them around the environment and available facilities.o Answer telephone enquiries politely, take accurate messages, and follow up appropriately.o Liaise with nurses, doctors, GPs, and other team members to share accurate information.o Maintain up-to-date patient records, appointments, and inpatient details to support timely care.Informal visits are warmly welcomed.
