Job summary

Thiscomes with scope toprogression to senior Band 5, DevelopmentalBand 6 opportunities andprogressiontoa substantive Band 6 Sister/Charge nurse.

Main duties of the job

Our 25 bed unit admits patients 24/ 7 from the A&E department and also from GP practices to our 11 bed Direct Assessment Area. Patients stay on MAU for up to 72hours before being transferred to a continuing care ward / discharged directly home. Patients in DAA, are seen and assessed with an aim to be discharged on the same day.

The primary role of MAU/DAA is to provide initial assessment, investigation and treatment for medical conditions as well as providing on going care and facilitating safe transferto a ward or discharge home. We work in closecollaboration with A&E and Ambulatory Care in order to improve and maximise patientflowand reduce patient wait.

We offer continued support through the Trust Preceptorship Programme, regular personal development reviews and individualised objectives to support professional and personal development within the department. We also offer in house training opportunities with our own clinical practice facilitators. You will be supported on every shift by a senior nurse who will help to develop your confidence, knowledge and skills.
