Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate nurse or allied health professional to join our Dementia Team and play a key role in improving the experience of people living with dementia across the Trust. The post holder will work closely with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to promote high-quality, person-centred dementia care within the hospital.
In this role, you will support individuals with a dementia diagnosis during their hospital stay, contribute to care planning, and act as an advocate for dementia-friendly practice. You will collaborate with Band 7 Dementia Nurses to develop and deliver engaging training based on the latest evidence and best practice, ensuring all RUH staff have the knowledge and confidence to support people living with dementia.
The post also includes supervising a Band 3 Dementia Support Worker, providing professional guidance, and helping to shape their development. You will play an active part in supporting our network of Dementia Champions across the organisation, empowering clinical areas to improve the environment and culture for people with dementia.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have a current NMC or AHP registration. A minimum of three years' post-registration experience in an acute care setting and at least 1 year experience in dementia care.
In this role, the post holder will provide specialist dementia knowledge and guidance to staff across the Royal United Hospital, acting as an advocate for people living with dementia, their families, and carers throughout their hospital journey. They will work closely with the Band 7 Dementia Nurses to develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of dementia training, ensuring education reflects best practice and current evidence. The role includes supporting the RUH Dementia Champions network, contributing to regular Champion meetings, and promoting a positive learning culture through both formal teaching and targeted ward-based support. The post holder will collaborate with the wider Vulnerable People services--including Learning Disabilities, Safeguarding, and Enhanced Care--and will contribute to the Dementia Strategy, Dementia Charter Marks, and learning from the National Audit of Dementia. Maintaining professional standards, strong communication links, and up-to-date clinical knowledge, they will manage their workload independently to ensure a high-quality and responsive service is delivered across the Trust.
