Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust

PET-CT Service Manager

The closing date is 25 March 2026

Job summary

In this key role, you will be responsible for supporting the management of the day to day PET-CT service and team. This includes arranging staff rotas, patient bookings, radiopharmaceutical provision, patient administrations, daily equipment QC and equipment selection. This role is important to ensure the smooth running of the PET-CT service.

This is a maternity cover opportunity for 13.5 hours a week; ideally split over a week. You will need to be a registered Radiographer or Clinical Technologist. This role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities. However, during the maternity cover period, the 13.5 hours advertised will be dedicated fully to the administrative elements of the role.

During this time, you will work closely with the PET administrative team, technologists, and radiographers supporting the PET department. You will also maintain regular communication with the Head of Nuclear Medicine and the Service Lead for Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT to ensure smooth coordination across the service.

Within the next year there may be opportunities to help with the initial planning and investigations into the building works and new PET scanner currently being fundraised for.

For internal applicants, there is flexibility. We are happy to discuss how these maternity-cover hours could be combined with clinical work in either PET or Nuclear Medicine, depending on the candidate's skillset and service needs.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for supporting the management of the day to day PET-CT service and team. This includes arranging staff rotas, patient bookings, radiopharmaceutical provision, patient administrations, daily equipment QC and equipment selection.

Management of the service includes continuous improvement and development of the service through the quality system, which is registered to ISO 9001:2000.

You'll be the lead trainer in PET-CT and responsible for ensuring the team has been adequately trained in their duties including use of equipment, handling radioactive material and basic life support as well providing appropriate structured training for new staff or trainees in the field of PETCT.

In this role you will work closely with the Service Lead for Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT, the Head of Nuclear Medicine, Technologists and Radiographers in PET and the PET admin team.

You'll be the point of contact for queries from the PET admin team and Nuclear Medicine staff who may have clinical queries.

It requires a flexible work ethic to ensure smooth running of the service throughout its operational hours Monday to Friday.
