Macmillan Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist

The closing date is 20 March 2026

Job summary

We are continuing to modernise and develop our cancer services, and we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking nurse to join our team.

We're looking for an individual who will bring vision, innovation, and confidence to work across professional boundaries - always with a strong commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient care.

You will be joining a highly committed multidisciplinary team and will benefit from a supportive and friendly working environment, regular clinical supervision, and excellent opportunities for professional and professional development.

About you:

You will be an experienced nurse and strong patient advocate with extensive knowledge of haematology.

Ideally, you will already hold qualifications in physical assessment and non-medical prescribing, enabling you to run nurse-led assessment clinics. However, if you do not yet have these qualifications, you will be willing to undertake them at pace to support the service.

Main duties of the job

The Macmillan Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will play a key role within the Haematology Multidisciplinary Team, providing expert clinical input and leading the assessment and planning of care for patients with haematological malignancies and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist expertise in the care of patients with haematological cancers, with a particular focus on Myeloma, while also contributing to care across the broader haematology CNS service.
  • Practising autonomously, using advanced skills to assess, manage, and support patients, and confidently leading complex clinical situations.
  • Offering clinical guidance, supervision, and training to peers and junior staff, supporting a skilled and confident workforce.
  • Ensuring service quality and sustainability by actively monitoring, evaluating, and contributing to the development of haematology services across the Trust.
  • Working collaboratively with the line manager, Cancer Lead Nurse, and other CNS colleagues to support the development and delivery of nursing strategy across Oncology/Haematology and the wider organisation.
