Job summary

If you're interested in a short-term, part-time role, we are offering a 6-month fixed-term contract/secondment running until September 2026. We are looking for an organised and motivated individual to provide essential administrative support to help keep our busy Trauma Assessment Unit running smoothly.

The Trauma Assessment Unit is dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care and ensuring every patient has the best possible experience during their assessment and treatment.

Main duties of the job

As an Administrative Assistant within the Trauma Assessment Unit, you will play an essential role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the service. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing professional administrative and clerical support to the Trauma Assessment Unit and Trauma Sisters
  • Welcoming patients and relatives in a friendly, courteous manner and helping them orientate to the unit
  • Responding to telephone enquiries, taking accurate messages, and providing helpful information
  • Scanning patient documents and uploading them to electronic patient records
  • Entering clinical information into the National Hip Fracture Database
  • Supporting the planning and coordination of procedures within the unit
  • Arranging follow-up appointments and patient transport
  • Organising maintenance or repairs for equipment and ward facilities
  • Managing stock rotation and ordering supplies to ensure the unit remains well equipped
  • Maintaining accurate patient details and appointments on the Millennium patient administration system
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Working flexibly to support the wider department and ensure smooth service delivery
