As we enter an exciting new chapter following the opening of our modern 16-bed Intensive Care Unit, we are looking for a forward-thinking, motivated Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our leadership team. This is a pivotal role where you will help drive excellence, inspire our teams, and influence the development of our service at a transformative moment.
Our State-of-the-Art Intensive Care Unit is a modern 16-bed ITU, equipped with the latest technology and designed to enhance patient care, staff wellbeing and family experience. While the facilities are exceptional, it's the people who truly make this unit special - creating a high-performance, compassionate and supportive environment.
The new Intensive Care Unit offers:
- Negative and positive pressure rooms
- Improved visitor facilities: lounge, kitchen, quiet space and better access to information
- Enhanced accessibility, including a disabled toilet
- Tailored wall displays explaining ICU equipment
- Separate staff and visitor entrances
- Better staff spaces: meeting room, changing areas and break facilities

Main duties of the job
In this supervisory role, you will provide visible, effective leadership to support team performance and high-quality patient care. You will lead by example, acting as a clinically credible practitioner and role model, ensuring care and compassion are at the forefront of everything we do.
You will contribute to key organisational priorities, including:
- Enhancing the patient experience and improving outcomes
- Supporting improved patient flow
- Reducing sickness levels
- Ensuring safe and effective staffing and workforce deployment
Your responsibilities will also include:
- Supporting and developing the ICU nursing team
- Championing high-quality, patient-centred care
- Leading quality improvement initiatives and service development
- Fostering a positive culture, teamwork and professional practice
- Playing a key part in embedding ways of working within our new ICU environment.
