Clinical Healthcare Support Worker

The closing date is 08 February 2026

Job summary

We are expanding our team of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers within the Medlock Unit, in the Dyson Cancer Centre. We're looking for caring and compassionate people who are happy to work as part of a large and inclusive team to join us.

If you're kind and passionate about making a positive difference to others, this role could be for you. Our Clinical Healthcare Support Workers are integral to our nursing team.

The new Medlock Unit provides chemotherapy, anti-cancer treatments and day care services for patients.

As a valued member of the team, you will deliver high-quality personal care and support patients in maintaining their independence and self-care.

It takes flexibility, commitment and compassion to be a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker, but in return we can offer you a rewarding career at the RUH.

We provide all the training you need before you start working on one of our wards. You will start on our induction programme to help you settle into the Royal United Hospitals Bath and you will learn the skills you need to do this role.

Main duties of the job

You will be supporting registered nurses to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.

This is a busy role so you will be working together with your team to balance different tasks that often change.

Your daily duties will be varied to include:

  • patient observations,
  • supportive care such as scalp cooling,
  • ensuring necessary stock levels on unit,
  • transporting samples to laboratory.

About us

At the RUH we put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone's contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.

We are proud to be in the top 20 best hospitals to work for in the country.

We are committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive environment. This can be seen in our growing community of staff networks - celebrating successes and creating opportunities to listen and learn. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger.

A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.

We value staff wellbeing, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellbeing. We've even got a pool!

We are committed to supporting you and hope you want to join our team. In the meantime, find out more about living and working the beautiful historic city of Bath, learn about our extensive package of staff benefits, and read about how we're providing healthcare fit for the future with the landmark Dyson Cancer Centre and our passion for research.
