Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Emergency Department
The closing date is 16 January 2026
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) role in the Emergency Department at the RUH. We are looking for an experienced professional from a paramedic, nurse, pharmacist or physiotherapy background who is ready to take this next step in their career.
The successful candidate will be committed to completing their MSc in Advanced Practice and working towards credentialing with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM), with the adult and paediatric curriculum.
The ED team at the RUH has a developing ACP team, led by a Consultant Nurse, who is a dual (adult & paediatric) RCEM credentialed ACP. The current team currently consists of three RCEM credentialed ACPs in addition, and three ACPs who are looking to submit for credentialing in 2026. We have a team of 15 ED consultants, 2 PEM consultants and 2 associate specialists. The nursing and AHP team are led by the ED Matron and Urgent Treatment Centre lead practitioner, with support of the Senior Matron for Urgent and Emergency Care.
The successful candidate will be joining the ACP team at an exciting time, as we look to align to the developing RCEM post credentialing strategy. We are also keen to look at sustainable long term job plans for the ED ACP team.
The role will have band 7 status until completion of the MSc in Advanced Practice and demonstration of strong development with the RCEM portfolio, leading to band 8a.
Main duties of the job
The Emergency Department trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) will develop the competencies and experience to deliver expert and autonomous assessment, examination, treatment and diagnosis to a range of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
You will be allocated an FRCEM Consultant educational supervisor, who will support your development and training, as well as support from the ACP team.
