Job summary

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Urology Directorate as a Band 8a Advanced Clinical Urology & Endo-Urology (Stone Service) Practitioner. You'll split your time between delivering advanced practice with the Urology on-call team across the hospital site including the Emergency Department and leading our nurse-led stone service in out-patients.

You'll join a well-established, forward-thinking team that drives, leads and showcases advanced autonomous nursing practice. In this highly specialised role, you'll be a visible clinical leader--championing change, quality improvement, and personalised care across our Urology pathways.

About the role

  • On-call Urology: Provide advanced clinical assessment and decision-making for urology in-patients and urgent presentations; support safe, timely interventions; collaborate closely with the multi-disciplinary team, other specialities and the ED teams.
  • Nurse-led Stone Service: We have transformed our out-patient stone service from traditional practice into a nurse-led model that delivers seamless, effective care for stone patients. Facilitate the Stone MDT, run out-patient stone clinics, oversee pathway coordination and safety-netting, and ensure seamless care from diagnosis to definitive management.
  • Advanced Practice (four pillars): Clinical practice, leadership/management, education, and research--contributing to governance, quality improvement, audit, and service development.

Main duties of the job

Summary of Responsibilities / Purpose

Applications are welcome for a trainee which will be a Band 7 until successful completion of MSc and Clinical Portfolio.

To work a split job role between the urology on-call team and the urology stone service running nurse-led clinics in the out-patient setting.

The post holder will be a skilled, autonomous practitioner working as a core member of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care to patients. They will possess the skills, competence, expertise and clinical decision-making abilities required to plan, co-ordinate and prescribe treatment for patients. The post holder will fulfil the expectations and core capabilities of an ACP as set out in the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE, 2017) the RUH Trust Framework for Advanced Practice and the Trust ACP Job Description. This means working in conjunction with the 4 pillars of advanced practice.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership for the development of integrated patient pathways in the team which are in line with recognised best practice and evidence base, working closely with stakeholders and care providers.
