Antenatal and Newborn Screening Champion

Job summary

We have an exciting permanent opportunity within our Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team as a Newborn Screening Champion. In this rewarding role, you'll play a key role within the maternity team--working to support the delivery of six Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes to families .

You'll be involved in ensuring efficient and effective fail safe trackers are maintained to support robust auditing. The role will provide clinical support with expert knowledge of the first and second trimester screening pathways, to deliver high quality screening services

The role is part time with coverage across all 7 days of the week including evening clinics.

Main duties of the job

Promote equality, diversity,

Adhere to security measures and data protection guidance.

Input and extract client information accurately from local and national databases,

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely antenatal screening

Oversee accurate input of screening information and results onto local trackers and databases.

Implement and carry out failsafe checks under supervision

Liaise appropriately with external providers.

Book urgent / routine appointments via various systems.

Monitor clinic session utilisation, reducing capacity loss by rearranging or cancelling appointments .

Provide administrative support to the ANNB Screening Coordinator and wider team.

Arrange interpreters for women.

attend multidisciplinary meetings.

Produce ad hoc reports and support project work.

Respond confidently and sensitively to distressed women via telephone or face-to-face.

Answer telephone enquiries and refer appropriately,

Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and order consumables and stationery as required.

Arrange calibration of screening equipment when necessary.

Prepare rooms and equipment.

Prepare equipment, documentation, and individuals for venous blood sample collection in line with Trust guidelines.

Assist in cleaning and preparing rooms for screening procedures.

Explain first and second trimester screening options and pathways to families attending their dating scan.
