We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Advanced Pharmacy Assistant / Rotational Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team at RUH Bath. Main duties of the job
You will work across multiple areas of the pharmacy service, supporting safe and efficient medicines management. Under the supervision of a registered pharmacy professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Dispensary & Accuracy Checking
- Dispense inpatient, outpatient, discharge, and controlled drug prescriptions in line with SOPs.
- Complete accredited accuracy checking training and undertake final accuracy checks once competent.
- Use ePMA and Webtracker systems to process and track prescriptions.
- Rotational Responsibilities
- Work across dispensary, distribution & homecare, medicines optimisation, aseptic services, purchasing, and digital services.
- Support medicines optimisation by assisting with medication history taking and reconciliation.
- Participate in purchasing, goods receipt, and stock distribution activities.
- Assist in aseptic preparation under supervision of senior technical staff.
- Support digital pharmacy tasks such as running reports, creating drug profiles, and software testing.
- Patient Care & Flow
- Help ensure timely discharge by supporting discharge planning and medicines supply.
- Assess patient's own medicines for suitability during admission and discharge following training.
- General Duties
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Respond to queries professionally and escalate when outside scope of practice.
- Participate in audits, stock checks, and service improvement initiatives.
- Work flexibly, including weekends, lates, and bank holidays as per rota.
