In this critical role, you will be part of a wider Estates team responsible for the safe, efficient operation, development, and management of building systems across the RUH estate. You will play a proactive role in maintaining and improving the hospital's physical environment, helping to ensure the effective delivery of both clinical and non-clinical services.
You will put your technical knowledge andexpertise to use, proactive problem-solving and collaborating with stakeholders. You will be working in a high-demand healthcare environment contributing to the continuous improvement of the Trust's estate and ensuring a safe environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.
You will carry out specific technical responsibilities in line with this designation. Your work will make a measurable impact by supporting various estate functions, including operational services, capital projects, and sustainability initiatives. You will at time deputise for our Senior Estates Officer (Building).

Main duties of the job
You'll play a vital role in the safe, efficient, and compliant management of hospital buildings and engineering systems by delivering some of these key activities:
- Support the safe, efficient, and compliant management of hospital buildings and systems.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with system commissioning and validation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, HTMs, and industry best practices.
- Act as an Authorised Person under supervision, assisting in the overseeing of Asbestos, Confined Space and Working at Height compliance.
- Contribute to the development of asset registers, condition surveys, and capital replacement plans.
- Support the implementation of the Estates Operational Strategy, Quality Management System (QMS), and Sustainability Strategy.
- Supervise contractors and maintenance teams, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
- Assist with service shutdowns when required.
- Assist with audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting.
- Analyse data to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
- Contribute to policy development and process implementation.
- Implement innovative and sustainable approaches to estates management.
