Job summary
As Health and Safety Service Manager you will provide advice on Health and Safety matters to the Trust, providing expert Health and Safety advice across the organisation and strategic leadership and direction for the management of Health and Safety at RUH.
We are looking for individuals who hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and have experience as a safety professional with knowledge of working within a healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job
The Health and Safety Manager is required to interpret relevant legislation and guidance in order to support the development and implementation of Trust wide policies and procedures on behalf of the Divisional Directors, Executive Directors and the Trust Board.
You will be responsible for demonstrating that the Trust is compliant with health and safety legislation and standards through programs of risk assessment and auditing, whilst ensuring the monitoring of Health and Safety performance.
Provide appropriate expertise to deliver professional and reliable advice at strategic and operational levels.
You will be responsible for leading the management of the risk assessment program for non-clinical areas to ensure risk compliance and maintaining oversight of all non-clinical accidents, incidents and near miss events.
You will be the subject matter expert leading the strategic work of the Health and Safety Committee in collaboration with the Chair, equally facilitating the development and delivery of a suitable and sufficient Trust wide Health and Safety training programme.
The role involves direct interactions with enforcing authorities, preparing legal cases, and leading continuous improvement initiatives in Health and Safety, Including the delivery of a 'Fit Testing' program with appropriate governance and oversight. This position requires collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure adherence to statutory and best practice arrangements.
