Job summary

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our supportive and forward-thinking Pharmacy team at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust as Associate Chief Pharmacist - Clinical Services. This pivotal role will help shape the future of Pharmacy services, aligning them with our Trust's Clinical Strategy and ensuring they meet the needs of our diverse community.

As a senior leader, you will have the opportunity to influence the strategic development of the Pharmacy service, including the introduction of new prescribing roles and the expansion of enhanced pharmacy technician roles within clinical pharmacy. Your leadership will help bring innovative medicines and care closer to home, improving access and outcomes for patients.

You will be a key member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction of Pharmacy and leading transformational work in medicines optimisation across the department, Trust, the BSW Hospitals Group and the BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Integrated Care System.

Main duties of the job

As Associate Chief Pharmacist - Clinical Services you will:

  • Collaborate with the Pharmacy Director and Leadership Team to shape strategy and policy for Pharmacy and medicines optimisation across the Trust and ICS.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, research, and innovation in clinical services.
  • Provide professional leadership and management of Pharmacy clinical services across inpatient specialties and in partnership with providers across the ICS.
  • Support the Director of Pharmacy in oversight and assurance for medicines, including deputising as Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs.
  • Lead and manage Pharmacy Clinical Services, ensuring alignment with departmental, Trust, and national strategies.
  • Drive the development of new prescribing roles and enhanced pharmacy technician roles, supporting career progression and service innovation.
