Lead Pharmacist for Surgery

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Pharmacy Team and make difference by leading the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to our surgical division and associated clinical areas. You will work with medical and nursing staff to reduce medication related adverse events and formulate action plans with the division to reduce errors and risks related to the use of medicines.
A key role will be tooversee provision of accurate, evaluated information on drug expenditure for the surgical specialities and assist surgical specialty managers in making optimal use of their drug budgets.
Main duties of the job
There will be opportunities to provide advice to medical and nursing staff on the safe, efficient use of medicines and their prescribing and administration whilst overseeing supervision and training of Pharmacy colleagues as required. You will be involved in clinical supervision of junior pharmacists and develop an appropriate training programme to enable a range of pharmacists to contribute to pharmaceutical care in surgical settings.
The successful candidate will collaborate with system partners to improve service provision and share good practice, whilst also being independent prescriber, or be working towards the role within an agreed time frame.
