Job summary
The Band 6 Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist is a key member of the LungCancer Team, providing expert clinical care, support and education to patientsdiagnosed with Lung Cancer. This role focuses on delivering high-quality,personalised patient care. They will also be responsible for coordinating thecomplex care needs of lung cancer patients across various stages of the patient's pathway from diagnosis, through treatment and survivorship.
Main duties of the job
To act as a key worker; delivering evidence based, personalised care through holisticassessment, care planning and evaluation of care for patients diagnosed with lungcancer, through treatment and follow up. This might be via a clinic, inpatient or remotefollow up setting.To identify and support patients who are vulnerable. Enabling them to have a smoothjourney through the lung cancer pathway.To work at an enhanced level to plan and provide clinical care and psychologicalsupport to patients with a cancer diagnosis who have complex needs.To provide holistic care for patients at all stages of their cancer pathway, delivering ahigh standard of person-centred care, supporting a culture of supported selfmanagement.To provide specialised advice to patients and their carers in relation to a cancerdiagnosis and its treatment.
