Job summary
We are seeking Environment Waste Porters to help maintain the hospital site.
The role involves clearing the clinical and non-clinical waste streams for our busy wards and departments to help ensure the provision of a positive environment for our patients. Good communications are essential as you will work as part of a team in departments across the Trust.
It is essential that you have C1 category on your driving licence as part of the role will involve driving around the site in a 7.50 tonne truck collecting general waste bins, cardboard waste bins and clinical waste bins.
You will be expected to work on your own initiative when required, as well as part of a wider team, to ensure the Environmental waste service runs smoothly.
You will join a busy and engaging team that look after waste and recycling for the hospital.
This is a bank role, meaning you'll be working flexibly for our Staffing Solutions team who recruit people to join our temporary staffing service. The benefit of working on the bank is that you choose the shifts, days and hours that you can work each week.
Main duties of the job
1. Collection of clinical, domestic, recycling and other special waste items from wards anddepartments in line with the Trusts Policy and Procedures for Waste Management.2. Segregation of all waste streams prior to collection by waste contractors.3. The weighing and logging of clinical waste bins and electrical appliances.4. Collection of soiled laundry from wards and departments for storage prior to collection by the laundry supplier.5. To collect and deliver furniture and other equipment as required from corridors, wards and departments as detailed in job request sheets.
