Job summary
We are looking for an experienced individual with excellent computer, administrative and communication skills who works well as a member of a team whilst being able to use their own initiative. You will provide administrative support to the Macmillan Skin Cancer CNS's.
You will liaise with doctors, medical secretaries, Outpatients and IT as well as Management to ensure an effective high quality service is provided for our patients. You will need to be able to talk to patients (mostly on the telephone) with an empathetic and professional manner.
Experience of supporting colleagues and patients with a cancer diagnosis, whilst understanding the challenges, uncertainty, anxiety and fear that a cancer diagnosis brings.
Main duties of the job
1. To work closely with the Macmillan Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team to provide administration support.
2. Taking distressing phone calls, dealing sensitively with patient enquiries and taking appropriate action. Developing conflict resolution skills when handling these calls.
3. Track and trace diagnostic investigations and appointments for all CNS patients on the Dermatology pathway within the appropriate cancer pathways. Preparation and validation of the patient tracking list (PTL)
4. Attend weekly Patient Tracking List meeting to assist with optimising the patient pathway and avoiding breaches, reducing delays in patient treatment(s). Updating Administration team with outstanding actions i.e booking patients.
5. Booking all CNS follow-ups including NEW, follow-up and Photodynamic therapy treatments. Responsible for the CNS scheduling templates and correct format within IT system.
