Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individual to join our Acute Oncology team here at the Royal United Hospital Bath.This role will allow you to develop skills and knowledge whilst working as an Enhanced Nurse Practitioner within the wider Acute Oncology nursing and medical team. We are looking to appoint a highly skilled and competent practitioner who, with the support of an expert and friendly team, will work autonomously to the level of enhanced practice, providing individualised and specialist care to patients who present acutely as a result of either their cancer or their cancer treatment.As an Enhanced Practitioner, you will ensure that patients are prioritised and managed in a timely manner to ensure there are no delays in diagnosis and treatment, ensuring physical and psychological symptoms are managed and that professionals are accurately guided on symptom management. You will work closely alongside all parts of the multi-disciplinary team and will form an intrinsic component of the MSCC coordinator role on a day to day basis.We seek a committed and organised individual passionate about service development, with excellent communication skills and a flexible team player. The role involves day shifts from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday, with rotating days off and potential weekend work in the future. Informal visits are welcome.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the Job:o To undertake clinical skills and enhanced roles in line with professional ability, training, NMC and Trust guidelines, to provide optimum clinical care to patients.o Ensure clinical skills and learning are aligned to the ACCEND (Aspirant Cancer Career Education and Development) Framework's capabilities and are maintained and updated to provide consistent and quality care.o Provide the first point of contact for all ED / DAA / MAU staff re: management of oncological patient conditions, demonstrating assessment skills and initiating appropriate investigation in advance of referral to medical staff, this should include any outlying patients.o Commence appropriate treatments and investigations following diagnosis and in line with agreed protocols and evaluate the effectiveness of such treatments.o Participate in the development of guidelines and protocols, recognising the need for any further role extension to provide vision and innovation regarding new developments and guidelines to practice.o Maintain professional and personal growth by acknowledging learning needs through appraisal, Personal Development Plan (PDP) and Clinical Supervision within the framework of the ACCEND capabilities.
