Job summary
This is a new full time (10 PAs) post (less than full time applicants will be considered) for a Consultant Neurologist based at the RUH. An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a specialist interest to complement the existing team to join an expanding team of dynamic Consultants who have a wealth of experience across a multitude of special interests.
The post includes commitment to elective outpatient activity based at the RUH and in Wiltshire Community Hospitals. There is a continuing commitment to inpatient Neurology at the RUH with a ward consultation service and inpatient beds.
Specialist interest in Multiple Sclerosis and accreditation in General Internal Medicine would be welcomed additional experience.
Main duties of the job
Core clinical duties are to provide elective and urgent outpatient activity at the RUH and in Wiltshire community settings with sessions for inpatient care and provide advice & guidance to Primary Care. They will also be expected to participate in audit, clinical governance and directorate meetings and undertake administrative duties as required by the Lead Clinician of Neurology. The post holder will be expected to cover for colleagues when absent
The Neurology service currently does not provide an out of hours service.
A commitment to maintain professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses is expected, and completion of diaries for CME is essential. Annual appraisal is essential.
The RUH has medical students from Bristol University, the Bath Academy, and all consultants are encouraged to contribute to teaching of these students in formal sessions as well as in clinical settings. There are ample opportunities to participate in postgraduate teaching for various grades of medical graduates.
