Job summary
Our purpose at Health Innovation West of England (HIWE) is to transform lives through innovation. Our license remit, working in close partnership with our local systems and stakeholders, is to develop a rich pipeline of demonstrably useful, evidence-based innovation and to support adoption and spread of proven innovation across the systems we serve.
In April 2024, we publishedour five-year strategy, which sets out our core priorities and ambitions to ensure all communities in the West of England benefit faster from the best innovations in health and care and with an increased focus on prevention, early intervention, reducing health inequalities and championing the use of data and digital solutions to improve patient and citizen outcomes.
As we mobilise to deliver our strategic ambitions, we recognise the need to further expand our capability and capacity for collaboration, in particular with community-based organisations, local authorities, public health teams, industry and academia - as well as with wider networks within and outside our geography, including with the national Health Innovation Network.
The postholder will lead the development of this expanded collaboration, and in addition will be responsible for a significant portfolio of projects and programmes, including but not limited to third-party commissioned innovation projects secured in addition to our core national commissions.

- To lead and oversee the work of programme team members supporting the strategic partnership and delivery portfolio
- Be a role model for best practice, learning from experience and from others, supporting the spread of innovation within the organisation, local systems and beyond
- Engage and manage relationships with stakeholders to achieve a common purpose and realise mutual benefits in line with our strategic intent
Business Development and Growth
- To contribute to the delivery and growth of the business development pipeline (in line with HIWE's business development ambitions), securing funding from a range of funders, and collaborating with our diverse and multi-disciplinary stakeholder communities
- Contribute to achievement of HIWE's 'shift left' strategy through securing additional partnership funding in collaboration with system partners.
