Job summary

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly, forward-thinking team of 32 Consultant Radiologists at the Royal United Hospital Bath.

This post is for a Consultant Radiologist with specialist interest in Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology (10 PAs).

This is a replacement post due to job plan changes in the interventional radiology department. This postwill help meet the increase in demand for interventional and diagnostic radiology services and to help us establish and provide an interventional oncology service.

The post is full time but anyone wishing to work part time is also encouraged to apply. The post includes participation in the IR on-call rota (participation in the diagnostic on-call rota is optional). Home PACS links are available.

Candidates are encouraged to visit the hospital and can make arrangements through contacting the Clinical Lead: Dr Gary Cross (gary.cross@nhs.net) or Dr Robert Colliver, Consultant Interventional Radiologist (robertcolliver@nhs.net).

Main duties of the job

The candidate must be able to provide a range of non-vascular interventional radiology procedures and ideally will be competent in haemorrhage control. This role also demands a good level of diagnostic radiology competence and another specialist area of interest is encouraged but not essential. The post holder will contribute to the general radiology work of the department in conjunction with the other radiologists all of whom perform regular sessions in general radiology.

The case mix in interventional radiology at the RUH predominantly comes from our busy Urology, Gastroenterology and Surgical departments and from the wide range of Oncology patients. Approximately 1300 IR procedures are performed per year. With this appointment we will provide a 1:5 IR on call service between 08.00-17.00 seven days per week. Our aim is to establish an interventional oncology practice providing thermal ablation and some elective embolisation.

At the RUH we're proud to put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community.
