Job summary

Health Innovation West of England has received a new five-year funding license from NHS England and we are excited to recruit an Evaluation Practitioner or an Evaluation Assistant to join our Evaluation and Insight Team.

This is a vital role within a small, specialist and friendly team who work on varied, interesting and complex projects, with the overall purpose of providing expertise to our programme management teams. This role will specifically focus on supporting evaluation of the Innovate Healthier Together programme.

Ideally you have relevant experience in delivering high quality research/evaluation and analysis that has contributed to improved knowledge and the improvement of services and have worked in a similar role in, for example, the research, health, charity or public sector.

Depending on the skills and experiences of applicants, the post is available at either Band 5 or Band 6. The postholder will be required to provide evaluation support to a range of complex, high-profile projects and programmes.If you are applying to work at Band 6 your application should be able to demonstrate your ability to work independently to support successful delivery of joint projects and to work with Programme or Project Managers to support evidencing programme outcomes and impacts. Main duties of the job

This role provides programme support for a range of Evaluation & Insight projects. The post holder will support the lifecycle of projects by supporting the different stages of the design, governance, data collection, data analysis and interpretation of evaluations. The role also involves producing rapid evidence reviews to inform service design and delivery.

The role requires someone who can undertake activities in a range of health and care areas using transferable research or evaluation skills and knowledge.

Some key activities for the role will include (see job description for full details):

  • Provide advice on evaluations, evaluation methodologies, tools and approaches to support other staff to develop proportionate evaluation plans undertaking some basic evaluation activities such as surveys, interviews and focus groups.
  • Translate findings for a range of audiences including the public and support dissemination to mobilise effective innovation and transformation in health and care systems
  • Critically appraise evidence and interpret strengths and weakness of papers, epidemiological methods and findings
  • To receive informed consent from participants in research or evaluation studies when appropriate and delegated, and accurately document the process
  • To conduct field work such as interviews, focus groups, observations and other qualitative data collection with health and care users and staff as determined by the project
