Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitable individual to become a permanent, whole time (10PA) Consultant ENT Surgeon colleague within this friendly and cohesive Department of Ear Nose and Throat Surgery.

The post will involve general ENT practice including participation in the Consultant on call service. In addition, we seek an individual with a particular interest in Rhinology and/or Paediatric ENT alongside any other interests that meet our service requirements.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the post will involve management of general ENT conditions in both an in-patient and out-patient setting at the RUH and in the community. The successful candidate will be expected to be fully involved in cover of emergency ENT conditions and to participate in the Consultant 1 in 7 on call rota both in and out of hours.

The job will be flexible to support the service requirements of the department; this may include work in (but not limited to) otology, rhinology, paediatric ENT, head and neck including 2WW outpatients, depending on the needs of the department and the skills and experience of the applicant. The successful candidate may have a sub-specialist interest in one of these areas.

A commitment to maintain professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses is expected, and completion of diaries for CME is essential. It is also essential that you have an annual appraisal.

The ENT department is a friendly and well supported department. Applicants should expect to work hard with appropriate support and departmental development. The department is looking for practical, hard-working, friendly, patient oriented doctors to join a hard-working team for the benefit of our patients.
