Job summary
The Energy Officer will report to the Energy Manager and work independently to provide energy management services for two acute hospital sites (Royal United Hospitals Bath and Salisbury Foundation Trust).
Their main responsibilities will include monitoring and reporting utilities, ensuring compliance with regulations, identifying energy-saving projects, and collaborating with the Estates teams for support in project development. Additionally, they will oversee the daily operations and energy utilities across the hospital estate of each Trust, supervising and coordinating tasks from no/low-cost actions to major energy projects.
Main duties of the job
- The Energy Officer will support the estates team in the development and delivery of energy strategies, policies and initiatives throughout the Trust enabling the delivery of an energy-efficient and sustainable organisation that satisfies both statutory and mandatory requirements.
- To assist with the introduction, development and promotion of improved energy efficiency schemes.
- To support the Trust to reduce energy usage and carbon emissions in line with the Trust and national targets. This includes leading engagement campaigns to strengthen the energy reduction and sustainability agenda whilst building strong working relationships across the Trust and with wider stakeholders.
- To manage, monitor and report on energy and water usage and costs. This includes the maintenance of the procurement contracts, verification of bills and resolution of invoicing issues, as well as record keeping of important documentation according to Energy legislation.
- To assist with ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and Trust procedures and to provide technical expertise relating to energy and environmental management.
- To collect and store complex energy data and information, creating accurate, timely and appropriate records. For example, meter readings for recharges to other departments, invoices from utility providers, or data for the Combined Heat & Power (CHP).
