Job summary
The Bath Centre for Pain Services is a National Specialist Psychology led service. We provide truly interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation for people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds who have complex chronic pain.
We have a purpose built therapeutic environment in which we deliver residential and outpatient pain rehabilitation to individuals, groups and families.
This new post is for a band 7 Clinical Psychologist. It will provide a great learning and development opportunity. There is a breadth of clinical work rarely found in other services. We treat people with chronic pain of all ages -children to older adults. Chronic pain is the primary symptom. Our service is for complex chronic pain so our service users often have additional difficulties including neurodiversity, mental health diagnoses and complex medical histories.
The whole BCPS team are committed to research and regularly publish and present at scientific meetings. We provide teaching and placements for AHP Students, Trainee Clinical Psychologist and others. We highly value the CPD of our team and have weekly Clinical Development meetings, annual training week, supervision and support to attend external training.
This post will suit someone who enjoys a therapeutic environment and providing highly effective evidence based therapy with variety and creativity. The work is within a highly functioning and truly interdisciplinary team that is pleasure to be part of.
Main duties of the job
To work as a Clinical Psychologist in an interdisciplinary team at the national specialist Bath Centre for Pain Services (BCPS) delivering pain rehabilitation interventions to people of all ages (children to older adults and their families) with complex chronic pain and associated disability.
BCPS is one of the few environments where you can develop your therapy skills working across the lifespan with the opportunity for those with a special interest in paediatric skills there is also the opportunity to work in our paediatric outpatient service
To work in a service where psychological thinking, dynamic formulation and interdisciplinary working is continuously informing therapy.
To work within an evidence based service that uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as the primary model including, Compassion Focused Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Human Development and Behavioural models.
To contribute to audit, service development, education and research.
BCPS has strong national and international links with other chronic pain services. There is opportunity to be involved with our continuous service development.
CPD is built into the service with in house and external training.
BCPS is the only Psychology led Chronic Pain Service in the UK. There is opportunity to contribute to psychologically driven research that leads to frequent publications and conference presentations.
