Job summary

The RUH Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team welcomes applications for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist at 30 hours per week, under a 2 year Fixed Term Contract.This is a rewarding and challenging role with the Lung Cancer CNS team.We are looking for a qualified nurse with experience in either respiratory medicine, oncology and or palliative care who is committed to support lung cancer patients throughout their cancer pathway.We offer a supportive team environment, where you will be encouraged to develop knowledge and experience working between Respiratory andOncology Teams supporting patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.This role offer an exciting opportunity to develop skills to become an autonomous and independent clinical nurse specialist.As a team we are committed to delivering compassionate care with emphasis on skilled communication .We are a friendly, supportive and well respected team of Band 7 CNSs and one Band 6 CNS, we are also well-supported by 2 experienced Lung Cancer Navigators.We have a strong team ethic and are pivotal to the cohesive work of the Lung MDT.We all have different nursing backgrounds but share a common goal to provide the highest standard of personalised care for our patients.We strive to continually improve the efficiency of the Lung Cancer pathway and we welcome candidates that can contribute to the Lung Cancer Service development.We strongly encourage informal visits or telephone contact to find out more about the post

Main duties of the job

The Band 6 Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist is a key member of the Lung Cancer Team, providing expert clinical care, support and education to patients diagnosed with Lung Cancer. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, personalised patient care. They will also be responsible for coordinating the complex care needs of lung cancer patients across various stages of the patient's' pathway from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.
