Job summary
The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive administration service to support the reception booking team, consultants and clinicians. You will work together with the clerical teams to provide a central point of communication for patients and staff.
Main duties of the job
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Provide a complete medical administrative service - typing clinic letters, dealing with incoming correspondence, scanning documents to patient records, answering consultant, internal departments and patient queries over the phone and by email.
- To scan and upload clinical information as directed to ensure patients' electronic medical records are kept as up to date as possible.
- Liaising with the multidisciplinary team to provide a quality service for the patients.
- Work as part of a team to deliver safe patient care.
- Support (other members of) the multidisciplinary team in planning and implementing effective care for patients whilst in the department.
- To make best use of information technology and to be proactive and flexible with the changing technology as this becomes available.
- To assist in the fast track treatment for patients with cancer
- To arrange and (where necessary) cancel/reschedule appointments, book follow-up appointments and manage the waiting list appropriately.
- Train and understand the RTT process
- To understand cancer waiting times breaches with the Patient Pathway Manager and clinical teams and effect change to ensure compliance with the targets and appropriate escalation of potential breaches.
