Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We are looking for Health Care Support Workers who are passionate, motivated and have a desire to provide care of a high standard to our patients.

Haygarth Ward is a 24 bed specialist gastroenterology ward caring for a variety of patients with many different conditions within the GI field such as: liver disease, pancreatitis and gastric ulcers and patients who are detoxing from alcohol. We work closely with the endoscopy unit which is located next to the ward and we will occasionally take direct admits from the unit to the ward.

We are committed to providing compassionate care for our patients and enjoy our work whilst doing so. The nursing team also includes two band 7 nurse practitioners as well as specialist nurses and clinicians, who support the care of patients on the ward and support staff to develop their clinical skills. We are lucky to have strong working relationships with the gastroenterology consultants who have lead training for ward staff to develop their specialist knowledge and understanding of gastroenterology.

You will be welcomed by a dynamic and hard-working team where development is a priority and are keen to help others succeed and enjoy their roles.

We are looking for equally enthusiastic and energetic individuals who are eager to learn, willing to work together as a team but are self-motivated and can work independently when needed.

This area is both rewarding and challenging whilst caring for some of the most complex patients in the trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker you will be a core member of the team deliveringpersonal care, both clinical and non-clinical, to patients. You'll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.

You'll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse and your job will vary depending on the ward you are based. Your daily duties will be varied to include:

  • Delivering personal care such as helping patients get up, washed and dressed, taking patients to the toilet, helping at meal times
  • Contribute to patient assessments such as blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature
  • Recording your actions accurately in patient notes.

Our hospital is a 24 hour service as our patients need care and attention around the clock, therefore we work on a shift basis and you are likely to be given early, late, twilight and night shifts, so everyone gets involved working different shifts to ensure our patients receive the very best care.

About us

At the RUH we're proud to put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger.

A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.

We value staff wellbeing, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellbeing. We've even got a pool!

We are committed to supporting you and hope you want to join our team.
