Job summary
Research and clinical trials are a very important part of the National Health Service. Everyday clinical trials investigating medicines are being run across the country which are working towards new and improved treatments for patients.
The Lead Pharmacist - Clinical Trials is an exciting role contributing to this invaluable work. The successful candidate will be a hard-working and professional individual who enjoys being part of research. The principal objective of this role is to provide outstanding leadership for the pharmacy clinical trials department and effective oversight directing the safe and timely set up and maintenance of all clinical trials involving medicines at the trust.
The post holder will be responsible for leading the clinical trials pharmacy team to provide a reliable and efficient pharmacy clinical trials service which meets the needs of our clinical trials patients in Bath and the surrounding areas, sponsors and also the many specialist research teams we work closely with across the trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead the Clinical Trials Pharmacist and technical team to build and expand the clinical trials portfolio whilst ensuring compliance with International Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP), clinical trials regulations, the research governance framework and other relevant guidelines and policies.
The post holder will need to be able to effectively lead the Trials team, providing key updates and developments through appropriate governance channels and also be able to provide holistic management support to the team. Ideally, the post holder will have leadership experience which will support with this and with their management of both internal and external stakeholders.
