Locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join an cohesive, experienced and growing consultant O&G team at the RUH Bath.The maternity service has approximately 5,000 deliveries per year with 400 of these delivering in one of the three community maternity units. The Gynaecology department provides approximately 5000 outpatient attendances per year with 2000 day case and in-patient procedures. There is a tertiary level gynaecological oncology service, a uro-gynaecology service as well as a reproductive medicine service.
The successful applicant will take up a fixed term Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist role. The role will include non-resident and resident on call duties, ANC, GOPD and emergency gynaecology and minor treatment clinics and gynaecology theatre sessions. All areas of specialist interest will be considered for support. There will be the opportunity to have dedicated operating sessions with a senior consultant to develop gynaecological surgical skills if needed. Candidates who have not yet obtained CCT will be considered.
An interest in research and teaching is expected with participation in projects, courses, etc. to enhance the standing and role of the department and trust is encouraged. There are regular departmental meetings and research links with the University of Bath, University of Exeter and through the Bath School of Postgraduate Medicine.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based at the RUH and the holder will participate in audit and directorate meetings and undertake administrative duties as required by the Lead Clinician of O and G.
Candidates who have not yet obtained CCT will be considered and will be considered to participate on the middle grade on-call rota.
A commitment to maintain professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses is expected, and completion of diaries for CME is essential. It is also essential that you have an annual appraisal.
An interest in research and teaching is expected with participation in projects, courses, etc. to enhance the standing and role of the Department and Trust.
Attendance at, and organisation of, meetings is expected.
The post holder will be expected to cover for colleagues when absent or on leave.
