Job summary
We are looking for energetic, motivated Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners within Orthopaedics/Trauma. Candidates should be ambitious individuals who can help drive our department into the future. If you are forward-thinking with the motivation to progress and have an eye for performance and delivery, then we are looking for you.
Previous experience in a perioperative or surgical nursing environment would be an advantage but full training and support will be given for those enthusiastic to join our team. You will be supported by a mentor and new starter team who will be able to offer support and assistance with further development.

Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patient Care Responsibilities
1.1 To maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing incorporating the Named Nurse initiative.
1.2 To co-ordinate the patients' transfer arrangements in accordance with Theatre protocols including the effective handover of care to other relevant staff.
1.3 To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.
1.4 To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.
1.5 To maintain a safe peri-operative environment.
1.6 To complete patient documentation correctly.
1.8 To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.
1.9 To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication.
1.10 To ensure patient confidentiality.
1.11 To supervise junior staff in the delivery of care.
1.12 To take responsibility in the absence of the theatre team leader.
