The post will be based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn.There will be an average of 3.5 PAs Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care, with the remainder being allocated for Supporting Professional Activities.
As a senior employee of the Trust you will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.
Integral to these responsibilities is the following:-
The provision of a first-class clinical service
Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies.
Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans.
Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Division or the Trust.
There is one other Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon colleague with a sub-specialist interest in Foot and ankle surgery.
Your remit will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for Orthopaedic foot and ankle problems with a particular focus on providing surgical input when necessary as part of an multi-disciplinary process for patients with diabetic foot problems.
Main duties of the job
The Locum Podiatric Surgeon will be responsible for the diagnosis, surgical and non-surgical management of complex foot and ankle conditions.
You will deliver care aimed at improving patient mobility and reducing long-term disability by performing elective foot and ankle surgeries.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including diabetic services, vascular and physiotherapy.

Essential
- Diploma/degree, plus additional knowledge and experience of treating high-risk patients; relevant postgraduate certification.
- F.C.Pod. S and Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training.
- Registered with HCPC
- Holds approved qualification in local analgesia
- Prescription only medicines certificate
- IRMER certificate
- Detailed knowledge of relevant legislative, regulatory and professional issues relating to surgical practice. ILS certificate or its recommended equivalent.
Experience and skills

- Ability to cope with patients in an emergency situation; ability to respond appropriately and deal with frequently distressing or emotional situations.
- Manual dexterity, good hand to eye coordination, good eyesight.
