Job summary
To be a member of the Portering and Security Bank team providing a customer focused service to patients, staff and visitors to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Responsible for providing a uniformed specialist service. Ensuring that patients, visitors and staff are given advice and provided with a safe and secure environment in line with legislation and particularly in emergency situations. This will include communication with emergency services.
Fundamental to the role will be dealing with issues regarding challenging particular patients, visitors and staff, where difficult circumstances prevail (e.g. smokers, abuse issues, car park incidents and unwelcome visitors). The post holder will provide a customer focused service to patients, staff and visitors. The trust has a policy and guidance for the prevention and management of violent and abusive behaviour, this role will involve aiding in applying the agreed techniques.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of an efficient and effective Portering and Security Service to all Wards and Departments in accordance with established procedures.
To be responsible for the transportation of blood collections and specimens, to assist with all bed movements around the site, dealing with stressed and anxious patients and relatives in a courteous and sympathetic manner.
As required, under the supervision of the nursing staff, assist with the movement of patients in accordance with the policies for patient movement.
To employ appropriate skills to diffuse and de-escalate aggressive behaviour and physically assist in restraining violent and confused patients.
Operating the CCTV System as and when required.
